A Response to a Growing Community
The Muslim community in Aylmer continues to grow rapidly. Our current facility, while beloved, is no longer sufficient to meet the demand for larger prayer areas, more classrooms, and broader programs for youth, women, and seniors.
The New Community Centre addresses critical needs:
– Expanded prayer capacity
– More classrooms for Islamic education
– Spaces dedicated to youth empowerment
– Facilities for women’s programs
– Multipurpose halls for community events
– Support services for families and newcomers
With this project, we aim to build a future-ready space that supports spiritual growth and community well-being.
For several years, the Muslim community in the Aylmer region has faced growing challenges in meeting its increasing needs, including:
- Overcapacity during Friday prayers,
- Limited capacity to accommodate students of the Arabic school on weekends,
- A lack of space for social and community events.
In response to this reality, the leadership of the Aylmer mosque has initiated an active search process to explore various scenarios for acquiring a new community space.
Since the fall of 2024, the designated committee has undertaken research to purchase land in the Aylmer area. By the mercy of Allah, these efforts have resulted in the successful conclusion of an agreement to acquire a 2-acre parcel of land located at 1444 Aylmer Road.
A 3D model of the project has been developed to illustrate the preliminary components of the future community center.
These components were identified following extensive consultation with community members and include:
- A large mosque
- A community hall
- Game rooms for youth
- Classrooms
- An events and conference hall
- A morgue
The negotiation process officially began in August 2025.
The final purchase agreement is structured as follows:
- $1.7 million upon signing of the deed of sale
- $200,000 in Year 01
- $200,000 in Year 02
- $200,000 in Year 03
The total value of the transaction amounts to $2.3 million.
The Aylmer Mosque extends its deepest gratitude to the community members who ensured the remaining balance of the initial $1.7 million deposit. May Allah reward all the brothers and sisters who have supported this ambitious and important project since its launch.
